Integrative Art Psychotherapist

DEBORAH THOMAS

I am an Integrative Art Psychotherapist based in Wokingham. This means that I have trained in several theoretical modalities and can choose the right modality that suits you, incorporating the use of the arts. I work in a person-centred, psychodynamic, and trauma-informed way, using creative methods like art, sand tray, fairy tales, dreams, poetry, clay, music, the body, and puppetry. I identify as a mixed-race British female. A childhood spent in Asia, Africa and Europe has given me a deep respect and cultural humility for multicultural clients.

I trained at the Institute for the Arts in Therapy and Education, earning a Postgraduate Certificate and an MA in Integrative Arts Psychotherapy for Adults.

With 5 years of experience in the NHS and a charity supporting survivors of sexual abuse, anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, PTSD, domestic abuse, low self-esteem, and stress, I am fully insured and registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC membership no. AS019410). I follow their ethical code and am also registered with the BAAT and the UKCP.

You can also find me at Psychology Today and at the Wokingham Therapy Clinic.
